Because when we talk, the other person can see our non-verbal language: smell our perfume (or bad breath!), see our frown or smile, hear the differences in intonation and inflection of our voice, feel the cold or warmth of the breeze, etc. We writers essentially have the task of translating the language of our other senses into one language our eyes can understand as it feeds the words to our brain.
Why is there so much difference between the way we write and talk?
